28TH SPACE EXPEDITION TO START FOR MIR TUESDAY

BAIKONUR, April 3 (AVN) - The launch of the Russian Soyuz TM booster rocket is scheduled for 9.01 Moscow time (0601 GMT) on Tuesday, Valery Ryumin, director of Mir station piloting programmes, told the Military News Agency.

The booster will take the 28th expedition, comprising Commander Sergey Zaletin and Board-Engineer Alexander Kaleri, to the Mir orbital station.

The 28th expedition crew will demothball the station, restore the pressure in one of the cells and the solar batteries modifying systems. In addition to that, Zaletin and Kaleri will stage over 30 scientific experiments including those involving spacewalks.

According to Ryumin, Mir has seen over 16,500 experiments in its 14.5 years of existance.
