PLOUGHLAND CLEARED OF MINES, REBELS DETAINED IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, April 3 (AVN) - Chechnya's liberated districts are gradually restoring regular life, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Monday.

As much as 180 hectares of land have been ploughed and 354 hectares seeded in the Grozny rural district this month, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Another 160 hr of land has been cleared of mines and prepared for ploughing in the Pravoberezhny district, he added.

In the Kurchaloi district, 400m of water tubes were restored and 1.5hr of plough land were cleared of mines. In the Shelkovsky district, 13 shops are prepared for opening. The district has already organised food provision to its citizens, and the Shelkovsky bakery produces 15,500 loaves of bread daily.

Sappers have surveyed 563hr of land in the Urus-Martan district. Mine clearance is also in progress in Grozny.

Meanwhile, the federals have detained 63 suspected rebels in the course of ID-checks. They also arrested five apparent militants and eliminated another one.
