CIRCUMSTANCES OF YAK-40 CODLING CRASH OF MARCH 9 BEING INVESTIGATED

MOSCOW, April 4 (AVN) - The state R&D institute of the Defence Ministry is continuing to research the fragments of YAK-40 Codling plane crashed March 9 killing nine people, including head of the Sovershenno Sekretno publishing holding Artyom Borovik and Alyans oil group president Zia Bazhayev, the Military News Agency learned Tuesday.

Evidence of the plane coming to angles of stall after take-off has already been found. This is proven by the operation of breakdown indicator and evidence of engine's surging, Leonid Kashirsky, deputy chairman of the air transport incidents investigation commission of the interstate aviation committee told the Agency.

The analysis of the ailerons and ruddervator, mechanism of extending and retracting flaps control systems has not so far shown any malfunctions that could have led to the losing of control. According to experts' estimation, the flaps worked in step and were extended at an angle of 10 degrees. It is found that the main and forward landing gear struts were in retracted position.

Analysis of the cockpit devices is being conducted now. In accordance with the plan the work should be completed by April 16, Kashirsky said.
