COMPUTERISED TRAINING OF CIS UNIFIED DEFENCE SYSTEM TO BE HELD WEDNESDAY

MOSCOW, April 4 (AVN) - A computerised training of the CIS Unified Air Defence System (UADS) control bodies and on-duty air defence forces will be held Wednesday, General Yuri Bondarev, Russian Air Force deputy commander for the questions of the CIS UADS told the Military News Agency.

According to him, it is planned to train the issues of interaction between the CIS UADS on-duty forces for clampdown of unsanctioned aircraft flights and also the items of the providing aid to the crews of planes and helicopters in force majeure conditions. Apart from the on-duty forces, about 50 aircraft and 10 helicopters from Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will be used in the training.

Simultaneously, it is planned to hold computerised training with the control bodies and on-duty forces of the Russian Airborne and the Airborne and Air Force of Ukraine and Uzbekistan, on the bilateral basis.

Forces of the Baltic Fleet are planned to be attracted for the training. They will complement the CIS UADS in May 2000, Bondarev said.
