OPERATIVE SITUATION IN CHECHNYA NOT CHANGED -- FED HQ

KHANKALA, April 4 (AVN) - The operative situation in Chechnya has not undergone any sufficient changes, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.

No rebel activity has been detected in the southern-eastern districts of the republic. Separatists stick to the tactics of separate raids and strikes against small federal units.

The federal command thinks, that the rebels intend to regroup and restore centralised command over the units preliminary deployed at the bases in the area of the Dagestan administrative border, the spokesman said. After the defeat in the vicinity of Komsomolskoye and Alkhazurovo many separatists have moved to the area of the Shalazhi and Roshni-Chu villages. Several new rebel camps have been exposed there recently.
