MINSK, April 5 (AVN) - Following the directive of the heads of the Commonwealth, the CIS headquarters has completed the draft documents concerning the establishment of a unified anti-terrorist centre and the CIS joint anti-terrorist programme for 2000-2003, Yuri Yarov, head of the CIS executive committee said Wednesday.
Given the current situation in the North Caucasus and the previous conflicts in Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan these documents are well-timed and important, Yarov told the Military News Agency.
If the CIS heads approve the documents, the anti-terrorist centre will be able to start its work straight away, Yarov said. The financing of the centre will be done on account of the reduced staff of the executive committee, he added.
Now the question is when the next CIS summit will take place.
