KHANKALA, April 7 (AVN) - Recently tactical regiment groups of the Airborne have been accomplishing missions in one of the tensest regions of Chechnya, the Vedeno area, a source in the operative group of the Airborne Staff told the Military News Agency.
Illegal armed formations are still opposing federals there, using assault and ambush tactics. The units and detachments of the Airborne are sitting on vantage points in the base region of the Vedeno-Elistanzhi-Engenoi area. They are improving their firing system, engineering combat positions, bringing up ammo and other materials.
In the past 24 hours the artillery of the airborne group has been shelling 20 earlier exposed targets, the source said.
