TBILISI, April 12 (AVN) - The Turkish government has taken a decision to deliver a grant of USD4m for the demands of the Georgian Armed Forces, a source in the republic's Defence Ministry told the Military News Agency.
The bulk of the funds will be allocated for reorganisation of the 11th motorised rifle brigade stationed in the village of Koda. The Defence Ministry plans to restructure the base to NATO standards.
The first Ankara grant for Georgia was given in 1998 on the sum of USD5.5m. It was allocated for building a hotel for the Defence Ministry, a firing ground at the National Military Academy and for other aims.
The volume of Turkish financial aid to Georgian Armed Forces and Border Department made USD3.8m in 1999, the source said.
