RUSSIA-NATO COUNCIL TO MEET IN FLORENCE AT FM LEVEL

MOSCOW, April 13 (AVN) - The next meeting of the Russia-NATO Permanent Joint Council will take place in Florence at the level of foreign ministers, the ambassadors' meeting in Brussels headquarters of the Alliance announced in a joint communique on Wednesday.

The meeting is scheduled circa May 24-25, a source in the Defence Ministry foreign relations department told the Military News Agency. It will be attended by Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov who has already received a respective invitation, the source said.

The Russia-NATO Permanent Joint Council was founded back in 1997 based on the NATO-Russia Founding Act. The Council meetings dedicated to a vast spectrum of security question inside the North Atlantic area are being held regularly at the foreign ministers', defence ministers', ambassadors', and military representatives' level.
