RUSSIA TO HOLD CONFERENCE ON ORDNANCE APPLIQUE IN CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, April 17 (AVN) - A large group of officers and generals of the General Staff, and Defence Ministry chief and central departments will leave for Krasnodar late Tuesday, a source in the Ministry told the Military News Agency.

There they will attend the research and practice conference entitled "Applique of Ordnance in the Course of the Anti-Guerrilla Operation in the North Caucasus," which is scheduled for Wednesday, the source said.

According to him, the conference is organised by the chief ordnance department of the Ministry. It will be attended by services commanders, heads of chief and central departments of the Armed Forces, military district commanders and their deputies for armament, as well as representatives of the Foreign and Emergency ministries and the Federal Border Guard Service. Defence Minister Igor Sergeyev is also expected.

Representatives of the unified federal group in the North Caucasus and the chief ordnance department of the Defence will address the conference with reports on the experience of the current campaign. Specialists of the defence industry will speak about the modernisation and bettering of ordnance.
