INVESTMENTS EXPERT APPOINTED DEPUTY EMERGENCY MINISTER

MOSCOW, April 19 (AVN) - President-elect Vladimir Putin issued a decree appointing Nadezhda Gerasimova deputy minister of civil defence affairs, emergency situations and liquidating the aftermath of natural disasters, the Military News Agency learned on Wednesday.

Prior to her present appointement Gerasimova worked as the Emergency Ministry's investments and main fund application department head. In the post of deputy minister she will still be responsible for forming the ministry's investment policy, creating and developing the base for the ministry's main funds and also co-ordinating the realisation of the federal objective and long-term programmes for liquidation of the aftermath of the natural disasters.

Nadezhda Gerasimova was born in the village of Vyzhlovichi of the Pinsk district of the Brest region, Western Russia, in 1952. She graduated from the Leningrad Engels Soviet Trade Institute in 1980. She worked as credit inspector, senior economist, head of the the Krasnoyarsk regional office of the State Bank, then headed the board of the Krasnoyarsk Agroprombank regional afiliate in 1994 - 1996. Gerasimova has been working with the Emegency Ministry since 1996. Was awarded the Order of Honour.

Before the recent appointment the office was occupied by Sergei Khatangurov, who lately was made head of the Federal Migration Service of the RF.
