MOSCOW, April 21 (AVN) - Russia's leading Kamov helicopter design bureau displays a model of a new seven-seat KA-115 helicopter at the first international Hi-Tech Forum here, Sergei Mikheyev, Kamov constructor general told the Military News Agency.
The helicopter should fill the gap, previously occupied by KA-15 Hen, KA-18 Hog and MI-1 Hare helicopters. KA-115 is designed under the auspices of the federal programme for development of Russia's civil aviation materiel for the period until 2015. It can be used as passenger and transport helicopter, as an emergency rescue aircraft, as means of mobile connection and management. It can be also employed in search, rescue and patrol operations of the Emergency and Interior Ministries.
One of the first possible customers is the Moscow Mayor's office, which intends to use the helicopter for controlling, prevention, and liquidation of emergency situations in Moscow and the Moscow region. Upon the proposal of Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, the helicopter will be designated Moskvichka.
KA-115 maximum take-off weight is 2,000kg, cruiser speed - 235 km/h, range of flight - 750km. The construction of the helicopter includes an antifreeze system of the rotor, a heating and a dust-proof device of the engine air intake. KA-115 can be equipped with inflatable floats, allowing for water landing.
