KHANKALA, May 4 (AVN) - The groups of rebels in Chechnya's adjacent Georgian districts have been scaling up activities lately, a source in the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
In April guerrilla emissaries were often coming to the Kvareli, Telavi and Lagodekhi districts of the Georgian Kakhetia region from the Akhmeta district of the republic. They are recruiting youths and seeking for channels to purchase arms, ammunition and rations.
According to the military data, the Georgian law-enforcement agencies do not take any serious measures for suppressing that activity. It is expected that small rebel groups will try to leave Georgia for earlier targeted concentration areas in the mountainous districts of Chechnya, the source said.
