OVER 70 CHINESE SOLDIERS GRADUATE FROM RUSSIAN AIR DEFENCE CENTRE

ORENBURG, May 4 (AVN) - A second group of Chinese servicemen has graduated from the Russian army's air defence training centre in the city of Orenburg in southeastern European Russia, Colonel Ismail Gizatulin, the centre's top official, said on Thursday.

Over 70 Chinese servicemen were studying Russian air defence missile systems for several months, Gizatulin told the Military News Agency. They learned to operate, among other armament, the Tor-M1 missile system which is adopted by the Chinese land forces, he noted.

The servicemen had to undergo strict selection before leaving for Russia, Gizatulin stressed. They all successfully mastered the new military speciality, he added.
