KALININGRAD, May 6 (AVN) - Customs officers in Russia's westernmost Kaliningrad region have detained a citizen of the Netherlands who tried to smuggle archive documents of a strategic enterprise, a customs spokesman told the Military News Agency.
The Dutchman lived in the town of Magnitogorsk in the southern Urals for a long time and collected a large file on the local metallurgic plant, the spokesman said. It included accounts, data on the plant's personnel, and lantern slides depicting its equipment, buildings and production samples.
The file also contained videotapes with footage of production processes, diskettes with data on them, and iron castings. It later turned out that statuettes, vases and candlesticks were produced in the 19th century and marked as having great artistic value in the Russian castings catalogue.
