RUSSIAN, CZECH VETS CELEBRATE V-DAY TOGETHER

MOSCOW, May 10 (AVN) - The last group of Russian veterans on Wednesday returned here from the Czech republic where they participated in the 55th V-Day anniversary, the Military News Agency learned.

For the first time since the collapse of the Warsaw Pact the Russian citizens took part in these celebration events. Together with representatives of Czech political and public organisations and movements Russian veterans have attended over 20 ceremonies on bringing the wreaths and flowers to the monuments in the honour of Soviet and Czechoslovakian warriors who liberated the territories of the Czech and Slovakian republics.

Those Russians who have been part of the Prague, Moravska-Ostrava, and Bratislava-Brno operations have been awarded Czech medals cast in memory of those battles. The Czech veterans were given honorary badges of the Russian veterans committee.
