NIZHNY NOVGOROD SAPPERS RETURN FROM CHECHNYA

NIZHNY-NOVGOROD, May 10 (AVN) - The engineering battalion of the 3rd motorised rifle division of permanent readiness has returned to the place of its permanent stationing after successfully accomplishing tasks in the Chechen republic, a source in the staff of the 22nd combined army told the Military News Agency on Wednesday.

According to the source, the battalion under command of Lieutenant-Colonel Anatoly Frolov has been staying in the area of operation since September last year. In the course of their service in the eastern and western federal groups' zones of responsibility the sappers were providing the security of convoy routes in the mountains, engineering motorised rifle and artillery positions, as well as providing engineering maintenance of combat and water supplies.

For their skills and self-sacrifice all of the battalion servicemen have been awarded orders and medals.
