RUSSIA'S NORTHERN FLEET TO TRAIN SUB RESCUE OP IN SUMMER

SEVEROMORSK, May 11 (AVN) - July-August this year will see the training of the Northern Fleet search and rescue forces on providing aid to a "sunk" nuclear submarine, a spokesman for the fleet's staff told the Military News Agency on Thursday.

The plan of the training is already finished and approved by the Navy search and rescue department, the spokesman said.

In accordance with the script of the training, a nuclear submarine will sink as a result of an "accident" and the Mikhail Rudnitsky rescue ship of the 05360 Project will provide the evacuation of the "crew in distress" to the surface, the spokesman said.

The elevation of the crew from a 100m plus depth will be conducted with the help of a special rescue bell, he added.
