NAZRAN, May 11 (AVN) - Top officials of the Ingush Interior Ministry on Thursday left for the Sunzha district of the republic where a federal convoy came under fire earlier in the day, a source in the ministry told the Military News Agency.
Unidentified gunmen attacked a truck convoy transporting servicemen of the RF Interior Ministry troops, the source said. According to him, 18 servicemen were killed in the rafale. Two trucks were burned. Two servicemen were evacuated to the district hospital in grave condition.
So far the republic's Interior does not have any information whether the attackers belonged to the illegal armed formations acting in Chechnya or how many of them there were, the source said.
So far the law enforcement and the unified federal command have been unable to site the attackers.
