Moscow, May 12 (AVN) - The Ulyanovsk Volga-Dnieper aviation company will organise a flight of AN-124 Condor transport to Sierra Leone on Friday, a source in the company administration told the Military News Agency.
The Condor will ferry a Jordanian peacekeeping battalion from Amman to Freetown. It is expected that in the near future the Volga-Dnieper company will receive a UN order for delivering Indian and Bangladeshi peacemaking contingents to the troubled territory.
The choice of a Russian aviation company for providing a peacekeeping mission stems from the uniqueness of AN-124 Condor planes and high reliability of the flights, the source stressed.
Volga-Dnieper has been an official transportation unit of the UN since 1994. The company planes flew a lot of missions in the interests of the international organisation, including to Sierra Leone.
