US TO INCREASE AID TO GEORGIAN BORDER GUARDS BY USD25M

TBILISI, May 19 (AVN) - The US government aid to the republic's border guards is to be increased by USD25m this year, a spokesman for the Georgian border guard service told the Military News Agency.

According to the spokesman, Georgia will receive about 10 ships, that are still employed by the US, a helicopter, a patrol plane, radar and other special equipment.

In addition to that the Americans will provide help to the Georgian units deployed in the villages of Omalo and Shatili near the border with Chechnya, the spokesman added.
