RUSSIAN GOVT DELEGATION SURVEYS BLACK SEA FLEET GROUP

SEVASTOPOL, May 19 (AVN) - A delegation of the Russian government has been working in the Black Sea Fleet group stationed in Ukraine's Crimea for the past two days, the Military News Agency learned.

The group included Deputy SC Secretary Colonel-General Vladimir Potapov, First Deputy Fuel and Energy Minister Alexander Kochnev, Deputy Finance Minister Lyubov Kudelina.

The Black Sea Staff held a working meeting. The fleet's Commander Vladimir Komoyedov reported to the delegation and to Navy Commander Vladimir Kuroyedov on the situation in the forces under his authority. The meeting also discussed a new scheme of economical life of the fleet that will have to alleviate the fleet's financial woes. The Navy commander said that the question of building another 100-apartment building for the Black Sea sailors is under consideration.

Kuroyedov handed the awards to the North Caucasus operation participants. Lieutenant Denis Yermishko got the Order of Courage, Captain Ilya Kargashin received the Order of Bravery, medicine service Captain Sergei Nakonechny and Sergeant Alexander Zulkarnayev were given the Suvorov medals, and Captain Sergei Baltachuov was awarded the Zhukov medal.

The delegation will return to Moscow later on Friday.
