TBILISI, May 22 (AVN) - Melting snow in the Great Caucasus Ridge has forced the Georgian authorities to take additional measures to reinforce the country's border with Chechnya, a spokesman for the Georgian state border guard department said on Monday.
According to him, reinforcements will soon be transferred to the vicinity of the Shatili, Omalo and Girevi border villages. The authorities are currently improving the structure of the Kakheti regional border guard department and completing formation of the Dusheti and Shatili departments, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
A temporary border outpost has been set up in the Girevi village on the Tushetsky ridge in order to help a motorised manoeuvrable group stationed there.
