COMMISSION TO FIND WAYS OF BETTERING BLACK SEA FLEET SUPPORT

SEVASTOPOL, May 22 (AVN) - An interdepartmental working group for reporting to the Russian government on the improvement of the Black Sea Fleet logistical and financial support will be set up in the next few days, a source in the fleet's staff told the Military News Agency.

The decision to form the group was made at the working meeting of the Navy command and representatives of the federal ministries and offices chaired by Navy Commander Vladimir Kuroyedov. The meeting was attended by SC Deputy Secretary Vladimir Potapov, First Deputy Atomic Energy Minister Alexander Kochnev, Deputy Finance Minister Lyubov Kudelina, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Ravil Muratov, and Tatneft JS representatives.

The meeting resulted in conclusion that the current fleet support system does not take into account that the largest part of it is situated in the territory of another state (Ukraine). This often leads to unjustified expenditures.

Several variants of logistical and financial support were considered at the meeting, Kuroyedov told reporters. He stressed that the betterment of the financial and economic activity of the fleet will begin in the next three to four weeks.
