30 PERCENT OF RUSSIA'S EARLY MILITARY GRADUATES RESIGN

MOSCOW, May 23 (AVN) - Over 30 percent of the young lieutenants who had an early graduation from the Defence Ministry higher educational establishments wrote dismissal reports and did not arrive to the place of service, a source in the ministry's military education department told the Military News Agency.

The early graduation was held in the beginning of the year in 10 army, artillery and engineer schools due to acute lack of platoon commanders in the land, missile and artillery forces and also in the unified federal group in the North Caucasus in accordance with the ministry's directive.

The current situation was predicted by specialists. The early graduation did not prove efficient. Almost 50 percent of the officers sent to the North Caucasus and other trouble spots refused to go there, and a third wrote their dismissal reports.

The graduates that went to troops were unqualified and did not even accomplish a utilisation tour.
