MOSCOW, May 23 (AVN) - The local radio-technical plant specialising in production of the S-300 and Pechora air defence systems developed a unique UZU-8N ultrasonic system, Yury Bulkin, the plant's director general told the Military News Agency.
The system allows for preventing scale (carbonate sedimentation) in heat-exchange apparatus of heat power plants.
According to Bulkin, in comparison with traditional chemical descaling methods, the UZU-8N ultrasonic discaler has a series of advantages - it is environment- and human-friendly, does not damage ecology, does not make toxic wastes that would have been removed by means of expensive purification works.
The system is built on request of the science and industrial policy department and the committee for reforming Moscow defence industry enterprises. The system tests showed that it could help achieve considerable economy of energy resources and increase the overhaul period of boilers and water pipelines.
According to expert estimation the system's pay-back term makes three to six months according to the type of the heat-exchange apparatus used.
