TULA, Central Russia, May 29 (AVN) - The Kordon-2 new radar surveillance aviation system prototype has ended tests successfully, Gennady Verba, chairman of the the Avgur Aeronautic Centre research and technical council, told the Military News Agency.
The tests were conducted at the Tula city airport. The detailed report on the tests will be sent to the Defence Ministry, the Federal Border Guard Service, the Rosvoorouzhenie company and to other offices concerned in the near future.
The Kordon-2 system was developed by the Avgur Aeronautic Centre in association with the Tula-based Strela R&D Institute. It is intended for all-weather 24-hour surveillance over terrain with the task of early detention and identification of ground, water and low-altitude air targets.
The main part of the system is the unitised UAN-400 ballon and Kredo-1E radar station. Depending on the on-board equipment, the system can solve additional tasks for providing connection and electronic countermeasures.
