TROSHEV APPOINTED NORTH CAUCASUS MILITARY DISTRICT COMMANDER

MOSCOW, May 31 (AVN) - President Vladimir Putin decreed the appointment of Colonel-General Gennady Troshev commander of the North Caucasian military district forces on Wednesday, the Military News Agency learned from the presidential press-service.

Troshev was introduced to the district management staff as acting commander at a field session of the district military council in Volgograd on May 26. He was introduced by former commander of the North Caucasian military district Army General Viktor Kazantsev, who had been appointed presidential envoy in the respective federal district.

Hero of Russia, Colonel-General Gennady Troshev was Kazantsev's first deputy and starting from April 15, 2000 commanded the unified federal group in the North Caucasus.
