MINSK, June 1 (AVN) - Belarus has started preparations for the fist international Minsk Defence Industry exhibition which is to take place here from October 17 to 20, 2000, the Military News Agency learned on Thursday.
The arms show was initiated by the administration of President Alexander Lukashenko, the Ministries of Industry and Defence and the BelEXPO national exhibition centre, Viktor Bugayev, head of the BelEXPO fair activitiy department, told the Agency.
Most Belarussian defence industry enterprises, including the Minsk wheeled prime mover plant, Agat research and production company, Peleng JS, Vavilov optical and mechanical plant and Kamerton testing and design bureau, have already agreed to take part in Defence Industry 2000. They will exhibit a series of their latest military and dual-purpose products, Bugayev said.
Russian enterprises are also expected to be involved in the show. Kronshtadt, Tulamashzavod and Pribor JSs, the Moscow-based Kvant research and production company, the Armatura design bureau and several other companies have already given preliminary consent to participate.
The exhibition will be a yearly event if Defence Industry 2000 becomes a success, Bugayev added.
