TU-204 PRODUCER DISCUSSES PLANE'S PROMOTION WITH EGYPTIAN FIRM

ULYANOVSK, Volga Region, June 1 (AVN) - Representatives of the local Aviastar company, the Tupolev aircraft enterprise and the Aviaexport foreign trade company have met high-ranking officials of the Egyptian Kato Aromatic company in London, Aviastar Director General Gennady Korotnev said on Thursday.

The parties discussed production of the new TU-204 medium-range airliners and their promotion on the world market in 2000 and 2001, Korotnev told the Military News Agency.

According to him, Kato Aromatic is planning to sign a contract on leasing two Ulyanovsk-built TU-204 planes from a foreign company before mid-June. Korotnev declined to disclose the company's name, saying only that such firms never let a plane idle on the ground for more than three hours.

As a result, the producer of the planes bears additional responsibility for their reliable functioning, the director stressed.
