GROZNY, June 1 (AVN) - Producers of illegal oil products are restoring their oil refineries network in Chechnya, a spokesman for the Russian government's acting envoy to Chechnya Nikolai Koshman said on Thursday.
The federal troops have eliminated almost 1,800 small oil refineries in the course of the anti-guerrilla operation, the spokesman told the Military News Agencies. Nevertheless, they are being rebuilt in enormous numbers in the Grozny rural, Shali, Kurchaloi, Gudermes, Shelkovsky and Naursky districts.
The refineries are frequently set up in the backyards of private houses. Their products are sold in Chechnya or exported illegally to the neighbouring Dagestan, Ingushetia, North Ossetia and the Stavropol territory.
The military commandant's offices and Chechen police have reinforced controls over the road traffic in the rebellious republic in order to prevent illegal production and transportation of oil products, the spokesman said.
In the past 24 hours, they have detained a GAZ-63 truck with 2,300 litres of lubricants in the Shali district and seized 24t of illegally produced oil products in the Grozny rural district. Seven oil refineries were also spotted and eliminated in the Argun district.
