REMAINING CHECHEN REBEL GANGS TO BREAKTHROUGH TO DAGESTAN

KHANKALA, June 13 (AVN) - Federal installations came under 22 attacks in Chechnya since Monday, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Tuesday.

In the course of re-mop operations in eight localities over 30 units of firearms, 40 kilos of explosives, five plus tons of fuels and lubricants and 11 hijacked vehicles were extracted, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.

The operations also exposed a rebel rations depot and rendered harmless nine explosive devices.

14 suspected rebels were detained by the federals, the spokesman went on. Another scouting unit of the Arbi Barayev group was caught in Urus Martan.

The military also confirmed the information on the three-hour battle in the vicinity of Argun.

According to the spokesman, the separatist leaders have decided to withdraw their units into the Novolaksk region of the adjacent Dagestan. The reasons behind this are numerous losses, many wounded and lack of finances, the spokesman claimed.
