KALININGRAD, Western Russia, June 21 (AVN) - The general consulate of Poland in Kaliningrad has sent an official note to the RF Foreign Ministry, the Military News Agency learned on Wednesday.
The Polish party expressed its concern with the alleged cases of discrimination of Polish citizens returning to Poland by the local authorities and police officers. This focuses on a long period of egress awaiting and the inconvenient order of border crossing.
The Polish side insists that the Russian party should take measures to exclude such cases.
According to Major-General Alexander Menshenin, head of the region's border guard department, the problem has been made up. The lines on the Russian-Polish border by 70 percent consist of Polish wholesale importers that have enough time to cross the border 4-5 times a day.
Moreover if the contingent of the Russian border troops on automobile checkpoints number up to 20 men, the Polish side provides only four men. Thus the slowdown is most probably caused by the problems on the other side of the border, the general said.
The reasons behind the said note are more likely to be political, the general went on, saying that the next step would be an outburst of publications in the Polish media demanding an introduction of visa regime with Russia.
