RUSSIA TO EXPORT MODERNISED MI-8MTO HIP HELIS

MOSCOW, June 27 (AVN) - A presentation of a modernised MI-8MTO Hip helicopter will be held soon at the Central Russian Torzhok pilot training and combat application centre, a source in the Rosvoorouzhenie state-owned company told the Military News Agency.

The modernised chopper is fitted with the GOES-321 hydro-stabilisation optic-electronic system, developed by the Urals optic mechanics plant, the source said.

After the presentation the craft will be proposed for the attention of foreign customers. According to Rosvoorouzhenie, several potential customers from the Middle East and South-East Asia have already expressed their interest in the new copter.

GOES-321 allows to use the craft in 24-hour mode, Eduard Yalamov, director general of the Ural plant said. As of the present moment, the system has been fitted onto eight helicopters. Some of them are being tested in combat conditions in the North Caucasus.
