TBILISI REFUTES ARABS TRAINING CHECHEN REBELS IN PANKISS GORGE

TBILISI, June 28 (AVN) - Seven Arab military instructors are effecting intensive combat training of Chechen rebels in Georgia's Pankiss gorge, Tengiz Kitovani, former Georgian defence minister told the Military News Agency.

According to him, similar training is held in adjacent Chechnya's Argun gorge, where the mercenaries can penetrate without difficulties. Kitovani did not exclude that the instructors are accomplishing the task assigned by their or third party secret services.

Russian secret services have many times stated that they posses the information on presence of Chechen militants in Georgia's districts adjacent to the republic.

However, official Tbilisi refutes the statements. The representatives of the Georgian Defence and Foreign Ministries have often said, that Tengiz Kitovani is in the opposition to the present country leadership and is pursuing only he knows what goals, just "adding fuel to the flame of Russian-Georgian relations."
