MOSCOW, July 3 (AVN) - The Russian Management Systems Agency has drafted and submitted to the country's government the federal target-oriented programme for development of electronic equipment for the period of 2001-2006, an agency spokesman told the Military News Agency.
The programme envisages allocation of RUR41.8bn (USD1.48bn) for the development of Russian electronic industry in the next six years, the spokesman said. Under it, the main part in the revival of this industry will be played by huge corporations, such as the Sistema financing corporation, which unites 15 plants based in Moscow's satellite town of Zelenograd, and the St. Petersburg-based Svetlana consortium.
According to the agency's experts, the interior market of household and military electronics is estimated at USD20bn. In case the programme is successfully implemented, the domestic industry can satisfy the market by 70 percent. Exports of Russian electronics will be increased four times. At present Russia sells its electronic devices to 34 foreign countries, and the total value of these contracts makes about USD300m a year.
