FED POLICE CARRY OUT 28 SEARCH, MOP-UP RAIDS IN CHECHNYA

MOZDOK, July 4 (AVN) - Federal police officers have carried out 28 search and mop-up operations in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry temporary press centre in the North Caucasus said on Tuesday.

The federals are concentrating on the search and detention of those suspected of involvement in the Argun police hostel bombing which occurred overnight to Monday, a press service official told the Military News Agency.

At the same time, search and elimination of illegal arsenals are also in progress, the official went on. On Monday, police exposed a rebel cache in a forest outside the Benoi village. Well-masked hiding places contained over 400 landmines, 20 mines, 4,000 cartridges for the Kalashnikov assault rifle and a 32mm cannon for IFV.

Sappers also rendered a harmless an explosive device found in a basement in Grozny's Staropromyslovsky district. The device contained 4kg of TNT and electric detonators.
