MOSCOW, July 4 (AVN) - President Vladimir Putin ordered the Russian government to draft proposals concerning a new order of calculation of servicemen's allowances and their adjustment to the level of state employees' wages by September this year, the Military News Agency learned on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, several deputies of the State Duma lower house of parliament are planning to submit for consideration of the chamber amendments to the federal law "Concerning the Status of Servicemen," a spokesman for the Duma defence committee told the Agency. Under the amendments, the law should include a provision saying that the military service is a sort of the state service and providing professional servicemen with guarantees that the state employees are entitled to.
Besides, servicemen's allowances and additional payments for military ranks are to make no less than wages and additional payments received by federal state employees of equal categories. They are to be indexed and increased simultaneously and on a similar pattern, the spokesman said.
According to him, the amendments also equal military ranks and posts to state posts and qualifications of federal employees. This, the posts of armed service commanders and heads of the Defence Ministry main departments will correspond to those of department heads in federal ministries. Corps commanders will be made equal to heads of local bodies responsible for territories with population of over 100,000. The post of a company commander will be equal to that of a ministry's chief specialist.
