OFFICER GETS FOUR YEARS FOR EMPLOYING SUBORDINATE

MOSCOW, July 7 (AVN) - The military court sentenced Lieutenant-Colonel Igor Derevyanko, ex-deputy commander of a military garrison in Moscow region's Chekhov, to four years in high-security penal colony, the Military News Agency learned.

The officer was convicted of "exploiting" his subordinate. The investigation carried out by the garrison prosecutor's office found out that Derevyanko has offered his subordinate, a major who arrived to the unit after graduation, to work in a commercial firm, instead of serving in the detachment.

For the help provided in the "employment" the major was to give Derevyanko all of his monthly allowance. As a result the "employer" has got over RUR27,000 (about USD1,000) this way.
