KHANKALA, July 12 (AVN) - Two rebel gangs, a guerrilla base and an ammo depot were exposed in the southern Chechen Argun gorge over the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Wednesday.
Missile and bomb strikes were inflicted upon the targets, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. The depot and the base were taken out, the gangs - partly eliminated, partly scattered, he stressed.
According to the spokesman, the separatists are continuing with a mine warfare. As many as eight explosive devices, including radio-controlled landmines, were exposed on the Chechnya roads in the course of a special operation conducted by the federals.
Two were killed in a landmine explosion in the Leninsky district of Grozny. Another explosion blocked the railway traffic between Urus-Martan and Gudermes for five hours, the spokesman went on.
He also said, that given the recent promises of the guerrillas to take over Grozny, Gudermes and Urus-Martan, the civilians are leaving these localities. As many as 20 buses and over 50 passenger vehicles left Gudermes since Tuesday.
