NIZHNY TAGIL, South-western Siberia, July 12 (AVN) - The recent decrease of Rosvoorouzhenie's participation in foreign arms exhibitions is explained with the new policy of the company, Deputy Director Alexander Kobin told a news conference here on Wednesday.
The meeting was conducted within the frames of the second URALEXPOARMS 2000 international arms exhibition that started in Nizhny Tagil on Tuesday. Famous arms maker Mikhail Kalashnikov also attended the news conference.
According to Kobin, Rosvoorouzhenie realises a "new ideology of exhibition activities" and tries to spend with maximum efficiency. The saved money is invested into the development of exhibitions in the territory of Russia, he added.
The fact that Rosvoorouzhenie, which is the country's major arms dealer, has cut down on its participation in foreign exhibitions, in no way means that foreign customers have lost their interest to Russian weaponry, Kobin stressed, since the contracts are still many.
As to the Urals exhibition, the company has brought 38 foreign delegations here, he said. For Rosvoorouzhenie URALEXPOARMS 2000 was part of its plan for promoting the Russian military-purpose products onto the international markets. Here the potential customers can see the ordnance, artillery systems, firearms and other equipment in action, and, which is even more important, get the information on the weapons directly form their designers and manufacturers. The exhibition is attended by the designers general of nearly all of the companies presented. Including the make of the AK-family assault rifles Mikhail Kalashnikov.
Kalahsnikov, in his turn, told reporters about the new models of firearms currently produced by the Izhevsk arms manufacturers.
