NIZHNY TAGIL, South-western Siberia, July 12 (AVN) - The Promexport state-owned company has proposed a new co-operation scheme to Russian enterprises and foreign customers, Alexander Fomin, head of the company's delegation at URALEXPOARMS 2000 said.
Promexport aims at establishing a scheme that would allow for a faster preparation of governmental regulations to improve the system of orders processing and implementation, Fomin, who heads the special property and military services export department in the company, told the Military News Agency.
Special attention will be paid to opening foreign representations and offices that would be put in charge of mending, servicing and modernising Russian-made equipment, Fomin continued. For instance, an agreement has been reached with India and Vietnam on establishing the facilities for capital repair of special weapons and hi-tech systems on their shipyards.
Here at URALEXPOARMS Promexport is proposing a series of modernisation programmes for ordnance, aviation equipment and air defence systems. For instance, the company offers modernisation of MI-8 Hip transport helicopters and MI-24 and MI-35 army aviation choppers of the Hind family as well as S-75, S-125 and Kvadrat air defence missile systems. 80 percent of all the orders on spares supplies is already being implemented. These include the supplies of spare parts for T-72, T-55 and T-62 main battle tanks, BMP-2 IFVs, and other ordnance.
Promexport intends to increase its foreign economic potential primarily by boosting co-operation with the CIS customers and its old-time partners China and India. The company's product range includes the S-300PMU2 Favorit air defence missile systems, that are capable of eliminating up to six targets simultaneously at the ranges of up to 200km and altitudes of up to 27km, Tunguska-M1 cannon-missile systems, SU-25K shipborne fighter-bombers of the Frogfoot family, Chilim, Yastreb and Svetlyak high-speed patrol boats, and other materiel.
