MOSCOW, July 12 (AVN) - The Russian border guard unit, part of the UN International Police Task Force group in Kosovo, has confiscated over 100 pieces of arms and thousands ammo rounds during the seven months of service, a source in the Federal Border Guard Service (FBGS) told the Military News Agency.
The servicemen of the Russian unit main check points "General Yankovich" and "Globcica" on the Yugoslavia-Macedonia border and also conduct duty activities in the Pristina airport.
One of the main problems the Russian unit faces in Kosovo is drug smuggling, the source said. It is very difficult to react adequately, because the border guards have no sniffer dogs. In this connection Konstantin Totsky, FBGS director, ordered that the necessary number of sniffer dogs should be trained in the FBGS canine centre in the Moscow region's Vyazma.
