NEW MILITARY COMMISSAR IN MURMANSK, NORTH RUSSIA

ST.PETERSBURG, July 12 (AVN) - President Vladimir Putin appointed Colonel Grigory Baginsky military commissar of the Murmansk region, a source in the Leningrad military district told the Military News Agency Wednesday.

Baginsky was born in 1952 in the Zhitomir region, Central Ukraine. He graduated from the Kharkov Tank Military College in 1974 and the Academy of the Armoured Forces in 1987. He served in the Karpaty, Middle Asia, Baltic and Leningrad military districts, German and North-Western Groups of the Russian Armed Forces. Before his new appointment he commanded a separate motorised rifle brigade, which left the Baltic region after the USSR collapse. This brigade became one of the best in the Leningrad military district.
