ST.PETERSBURG, July 12 (AVN) - The Zvezda JS, Russia's leading ship and railroad diesel engines producer, is planning to boost production 1.3 times next year, Valery Radchenko, Zvezda director general told the Military News Agency.
It will be made possible by means of technical refitting of the enterprise with new equipment got from barter supplies of the diesel engines. For instance, diesel generator production and precise casting facilities will be modernised, new casting shop will be built. This will allow to make diesel engines more attractive for foreign clients in their customer characteristics. The 18/20 engines have more than 120 modifications, and 16/17 engines have over 20 modifications.
The Zvezda engines are mounted on practically all Russian hydrofoil vessels and 90 percent of high-speed vessels of the Navy and the Federal Border Guard Service. These include the Mangust, Mercury, Sokzhoi, Mirazh modern border guard and customs high-speed vessels, ecological monitoring boats, and new passenger catamarans.
