ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 13 (AVN) - A commission of the Interior Ministry has ended inspection of the Rostov region main Interior department, Major-General Alexander Nazarov, head of the commission, told the Military News Agency.
Serious blemishes were exposed in surpassing illegal drug trafficking, Nazarov said. The region has officially registered about 14,000 drug addicts. Unaccredited data says they number 50,000 people.
The number of drug addicts has been recently on a substantial rise, especially among younger population, which says for high activity of the drug dealers. However the prosecutors manage to bring to justice only consumers and those who have committed small crimes and not the drug dealers themselves.
The number of grievous crimes among the region's total is only 29.8 percent, Nazarov went on. The figure approaches 36 percent in Russia as a whole. The percent of detected drug-related and organised crimes is very low.
The inspection has prescribed the police management in the Rostov region to restructure its control mechanisms, the commission head noted. It recommends to pay primary attention to the complex operative developments for controlling all the links of the region's drug trafficking ranging from dealers to customers.
