RUSSIAN BALTIC FLEET PREPARING FOR NAVY DAY PARADE

KALININGRAD, July 13 (AVN) - Russian Navy Commander Vladimir Kuroyedov will arrive in the Baltic Fleet's main base of Kaliningrad late on Thursday to supervise preparations for the upcoming Navy Day Parade, a source in the fleet headquarters told the Military News Agency.

The parade is likely to be attended by President Vladimir Putin, who is still a member of the Baltic Fleet military council, the source said. The fleet personnel is now busy repairing the headquarters, territories of military units and bases, and the landing strip at the fleet's reserve airfield, where the presidential plane is to arrive.

Putin will be accompanied by several government members, including Deputy Prime Minister Valentina Matviyenko.

Navy Day is celebrated in Russia on July 30.
