MOSCOW TO HAVE SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONE

MOSCOW, July 13 (AVN) - The Moscow city parliament has adopted a resolution on establishment of special-status territorial unit in Moscow's south-west, Irina Rudkina, chairman of the parliament's economic policy committee, told the Military News Agency.

The South-western research and production centre will be set up at the Toriy state-owned research and production enterprise. It will enjoy substantial benefits for profit and property taxes, utility payments and payments to different city funds. These benefits will apply to every participant of the Toriy programme, Rudkina said. Moscow is not distinguishing between city and federal enterprises that lay in the city boundaries. All of them get similar benefits and preferences.

The chairman also noted that the decision-making was helped forward by the good work of a similar unit in the Moscow suburb of Zelenograd, which was approved by the city government. The additional budget flows from the Zelenograd special status economic zone made over RUR50m (USD1,795m) in 1999, Rudkina added.
