ATAKA MISSILE SYSTEM TO BE SOON MOUNTED ON BLACK SHARK, HELIX CHOPPERS

KOLOMNA, Moscow Region, July 14 (AVN) - The local Machine-Building Design Bureau intensified works for mounting Ataka anti-tank missile system to the KA-50 Black Shark and KA-29 Helix helicopters, Valery Kashin, first deputy constructor general of the bureau, told the Military News Agency.

Prior to that the system was tested on MI-8 Hip and MI-28 Havoc choppers.

According to Kashin, the system can effectively combat ground, sea and air targets going with subsonic speed. The system guaranties piercing of armour protected by dynamic layer of up to 800mm. Its firing range is six kilometres.
