46th BRIGADE TO BE STATIONED IN CHECHNYA PERMANENTLY

ROSTOV-ON-DON, July 14 (AVN) - The 46th operative purpose brigade of the Interior Ministry troops will be deployed in the southern and central regions of Chechnya on permanent basis, Lieutenant-General Yevgeny Abrashin, first deputy commander of the North Caucasus Interior Ministry troops district, told the Military News Agency.

The issues of its manning and deployment are being considered in the district staff. A respective meeting will be conducted here by Interior Minister Vladimir Rushailo and Colonel-General Vyacheslav Tikhomirov, commander of the Interior Ministry troops.

The 46th brigade will take into its control the northern and the central Chechnya, primarily the roadway infrastructure. Its headquarters will be based in Urus-Martan, the battalions will be deployed in the villages of Chervlyonnaya, Shali, Kalinovskaya.

The brigade is being formed from the ground up. The day of its establishment will be May 15, 2000. So far only main units have been formed. It will be commanded by Colonel Yevgeny Zubarev, former commander of a regiment in the DON operative purpose division and of the 101st Interior Troops brigade.
